The Millennium Marathon delegates and some foreign participants led by the Managing Partner of the Millennium Marathon, Ambassador Ashim Morton, made a courtesy call on the CEO/MD of NIB, Mr. John Kweku Asamoah and Management of NIB on Friday 2nd September 2016.
The visiting party were made up of the Mexican Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency Maria De Los Angeles Aguirre, Senator Ana Gabriela Guevara from Mexico, a multi Olympic and World champion and two Colombian athletes, Andres Camilo and Yead Alexander, who are in Ghana to participate in the marathon for the second time.
For his part the CEO/MD of NIB, Mr. John Kweku Asamoah who could not hide his excitement, expressed his appreciation for the acknowledgement given to NIB for which the courtesy call was made. He affirmed that sports was part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility focus because it is the passion of the nation.
The aim of the courtesy call as declared by Ambassador Ashim Morton was to introduce the delegates to Management of NIB for being a key sponsor of the Marathon. He expressed gratitude to NIB for supporting the Marathon again this year and emphasized that NIB as the major sponsor is the only Bank involved in this year’s Millennium Marathon.
Ambassador Maria Aguirre, who was full of praise for Ghana for hosting the marathon commended the positive contribution of sports. She said she was passionate about sports because it brings nations together and unites them. She added that her embassy’s association with the Marathon will help create a strong bond between Mexico and Ghana.
Senator Ana Guevara, in her remarks expressed her excitement to be in Ghana and also for being part of the Marathon. She expressed her passion to see improvement in sports both in her home country Mexico and in the world and since marathon has now been introduced to Ghana she felt particularly interested to be a part of it.
